COE Renewal Cost Calculator (PQP)

Short answer

Renewing a COE costs the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP): 100% for another 10 years, or 50% (rounded up) for a one-time 5-year term. On the latest figures a Cat A renewal is about S$129,883 for 10 years or S$64,942 for 5.

Estimate what it costs to renew your COE, and compare that against the PARF rebate you give up by not scrapping.

How it is calculated

When a 10-year COE expires you can renew it without bidding by paying the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP) (LTA COE Renewal). The PQP is the moving average of the quota premiums over the last 3 months in which bidding was held, published monthly — so the figure depends on the month you renew.

  • 10-year renewal: you pay 100% of the PQP, and for most cars it can be repeated indefinitely (cars have no statutory lifespan).
  • 5-year renewal: you pay 50% of the PQP (rounded up), but it is a one-time option — the car must be deregistered when the 5 years end.

The calculator pre-fills the latest published PQP (S$129,883 for Category A and S$131,819 for Category B, for renewals in November 2026), which you can edit for your own renewal month.

The hidden cost — PARF rebate forgone. The PARF rebate is paid only if a car is deregistered within 10 years of registration. Because renewing takes the car past that mark, renewing means giving up the PARF rebate. Enter it above to see the true cost of keeping the car.

Worked example (illustrative)

On the Category A PQP of S$129,883, a 10-year renewal costs S$129,883; a 5-year renewal costs ceil(S$129,883 × 50%) = S$64,942. If scrapping would have returned a S$10,000 PARF rebate, the true cost of keeping the car is S$139,883 over 10 years, because that rebate is forgone. These reproduce LTA’s published PQP figures.

Limits of this estimate

  • The PQP changes every month; always confirm the current figure for your renewal month with LTA.
  • It does not add the road-tax surcharge (10%–50% for cars over 10 years) or rising maintenance costs.
  • It does not estimate your PARF rebate — work that out from your car’s ARF in the OMV, ARF and PARF guide.
  • Late renewal carries a fee (S$50–S$250); see the COE renewal and PQP guide.
